In October, people speak
more quietly, subdued.
Water grows heavier,
the pitcher wider.
The old tree
swallows up its shadow.
Down into its depths
the well drags
me     
and you
the ripened dream.

 
אָקטאָבער

אין אָקטאָבער רעדן מענטשן
שטילער און געפּרעסט.
שווערער ווערט דאָס וואַסער,
ברייטער ווערט די קרוג.
עס טרינקט זײַן שאָטן אויס
דער אַלטער בוים.
דער ברונעם שלעפּט אין דער טיפֿעניש
אַראָפּ,
מיך
און דיך
צייטיקער טרוים
